While I was waiting in line at the dentist's (see separate story on this), I browsed through a Men's Health ish with Doug Kramer and Chesca Garcia on the cover and stumbled upon this very inneresting artik:
CURVIER women may have smart children because hip fat contains polyunsaturated fatty acids critical for the development of the fetus's brain.
Using data from the US National Center for Health Statistics, William Lassek at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and Steven Gaulin of the University of California, Santa Barbara, found a child's performance in cognition tests was linked to their mother's waist-hip ratio, a proxy for how much fat she stores on her hips.
Children whose mothers had wide hips and a low waist-hip ratio scored highest, leading Lassek and Gaulin to suggest that fetuses benefit from a rich supply of useful fatty acids (Evolution and Human Behavior, DOI: 10.1016/j.evolhumbehav.2007.07.005)
Fat-bottomed girls rejoice! No wonder Enzo's smart hihi :-)
Yea, I realize I've been out of action for sooo long. Here's what I've been up to lately:
- Noah's birthday party at Fun Ranch. China's adorable tot turned one. Enzo and I brought dates, him Stacey, me Vincent :-) The kids had a great time, I had to go in the pool of balls to get them.
- E-heads concert. We bought the 1,300 ticket, which is SEVERAL meters away from the stage; we were sandwiched between the SVIP and VIP section up front and the GA section at the back. They apparently gave away tix for SVIP and VIP, we didn't have famous friends to hook us up. It was otherwise an overall surreal experience, despite having to tiptoe occasionally to see past the McDo banner (we hung out near the McDo stall to avoid the human crush that would surely ensue). Didn't have pics, digicams were supposedly not allowed..SLRs pala ang bawal..grrrrr. Took this poor-res pic of us sa fone na lang hehehe..
- 3EB Concert. They kicked off the 120-day Octoberfest that SanMig is holding this year. We met up with Ju, Jade and Gerrard. The organizers clearly undersetimated the power of the Orcs (repapips) as 10-foot makeshift walls of yero were put up in the heart of San Mig Ave. Puny cocolumber supported the yero so anyone who would mosh right at them can bring it down. We were desperate to get in but after being stuck amidst Orcs for 10 minutes, we gave up. We decided to hang out along San Mig Ave and listen to them play from the outside. They played several tracks from the first album, Losing a Whole Year, Graduate, Jumper, How's it Going to Be, God of Wine (OMG), Semi-Charmed (naturally), Motorcycle Drive By. I forgot the others. Stephen can't belt out the tunes like before, pumipiyok na sya..I couldn't complain though, we didn't pay a single cent to hear them :-)
Friday. Woke up earlier than usual. Had to get to Vince's house for the hush hush birthday party. With the lechon and baked mac in tow (thanks to Mom - you're the bomb!), I got there at 7:30. Didn't have the heart to wake up birthday boy coz he was up til 6PM (after night shift) to cook food. When everybody arrived at around 9, we woke Vincent up and sang him Happy Birthday :-)
Wee!
Saturday. Went to Town with Vincent and his sisters and the husbands. Of course, the dynamic duo Ian (with GF Shali) and Argem were there too. Went to line up and score tickets for the Dark Knight, got the tix for the 10:45P show. Ok, gotta lotta time to kill. We hung out at San Mig and drank draft beer till showtime. Was blown away by Heath, this was his best movie ever. In fact, THIS was the best Batman movie ever :-) Met up with Owen and Paige right after and did some catching up over mango daiquiris. Love love!

I hate the thought of going to the gym. It's hard work and gets you all sweaty. I cringe at the sight of athletes with seemingly inexhaustible supply of sweat which don't just trickle but POUR out. Every now and then, Vincent and I will have the "gym-is-good" or "endorphins-are-the bomb" convo. To which I would always retort "But I've got nothing to wear."
On our way home from Tagaytay yesterday, we passed by the Paseo Mall in Sta. Rosa to check out the Adidas and Nike outlet stores. He was deadset on getting me cross trainers for the gym. Naturally we lingered at Adidas and ogled at vintage Sambas (Vincent) and uber-expensive Stella McCartney gymwear (me).
We finally settled with a pair (last pair as always) that was really pretty and light. I'm not a huge fan of trainers coz I think they're too chunky, but hell this one works =) So (in ghettospeak), I aint got no excuse not to go to the gym no more hehehehehe ;-p
For Father's Day dinner, the fam went to Town and we passed by the Adidas store yet again. Got two sweatpants on sale =) Adidas overload! Adi Dasler must be so proud.
